![]() I died on boss 6 and both my bars were level 14 which meant that I was sort of running out of time if I didn't speed it up, the remaining worlds and bosses were going to be that much harder. You want to do your best to have the blue bar to always be a higher number than the red bar to make it easier for yourself. Ideally, you can "track" your progress by comparing the blue and red bars. BIG TIP: Not only is survival about RNG but also managing your time wisely in each world. It'll fill as you earn experience and finally, the bottom bar is the number of scraps you've accumulated. The bar below that (blue bar) is your level. ![]() After 6 minutes, the enemies will increase in level. The first horizontal bar (red bar) is the timer. There are pillars that categorize the types of purchases you can make such as: Green pillar = consumables Purple ring pillar = rings and amulets Purple swords pillar = melee/ranged weapons Purple shield pillar = armor Red pillar = extra dragon heart/trait tomes On the top left-hand side of the screen, you'll see a long vertical bar which indicates the number of bosses you've slain. You'll be taken to the Labyrinth to purchase your starting gear that is completely randomized. In order to start the DLC, go to the checkpoint (giant red crystal) in Ward 13, interact with it and you should see Survival Mode as an option at the bottom. With two other players, we got to wave 7. There's quite a few Youtube videos of solo survival strategies but none for co-op so it's up to you to decide how you want to approach this. EDIT: After trying it out with some co-op buddies, the game is more fun but in the long run, you do end up losing more time because you have to discuss and decide who gets what loot such as armor and weapons. It's possible it may be easier on co-op but I will have to try later on with a buddy or two to confirm it. Even on normal, survival is pretty tough so I recommend starting out on Normal first. For us the campaign was just a way of getting used to the bosses and mobs before diving into the real game in survival mode, I feel like it's where all of the mechanics and randomized elements really come together and shine to make an incredible experience.First off, I'm going to be honest. Going back to the first game to play some survival mode, so excited for it to come to this game! The archetypes and different relic types should make it even more interesting although the lack of armor set bonuses will be sorely missed. We tried a Losomn adventure mode and got the same bosses yet again, slightly disappointed there. Unfortunately all three of us rolled the exact same Losomn and N'Erud worlds with the same dungeons and bosses, the last area was the exact same as well but I get the feeling that one's not supposed to be randomized anyway. ![]() Just finished playing through the campaign with my friends on all three of our worlds, what a blast! Seriously one of the best games I've played in a long time. IMO the boss patterns should have a focus on they themselves getting back into the middle range more often or something, because there's a lot more to manage in a close up fight in this game than there is in a Souls game. Vs Souls where the camera stuff is largely taken care of for you and aiming is done only using your character's position, so it's mostly just you, your dodges and your attacks. If you're not trying to put distance between you and them that means fighting up close which is naturally more cumbersome than a Souls game because you have to manually track with the camera and target weak spots, while having to ensure your weapon is aimed before firing else you might accidentally melee attack etc, while still timing dodges correctly. ![]() The bosses work well when they're in the middle range and you're dodging and weaving and aiming for weak spots, but too many of them like to get in close and stay in close and it just doesn't feel great to me and gets quite cumbersome. They've moved away from add-heavy fights but the result seems to be bosses who focus a lot on fighting you up close like a Souls melee boss, which creates issues thanks to the way the game's controls work - primarily that you cannot sprint in the opposite direction to the way the camera is facing, so to put distance between yourself and the enemy you have to physically look away from them and cannot tell what they are doing any more. Click to shrink.Honestly, I don't think most of the boss fights are great. ![]()
